In the last of the Psalms of Ascent, Psalm 134, the psalmist concludes by declaring the life that is worth living. This is a life that blesses God and is then blessed by God. But the Old Testament is only part of the story. We need the New testament to help us complete the story. Jesus tells us that the life worth living is a life where the individual is connected to the true Vine and remains.
We all desire a fruitful life. A life that has meaning and purpose and a life that worth living, but how do we do that? One of the terms used often today to describe relationships is the term “connections.” Life, it seems today, is all about connections, the right connections. According to Psychology Today, connections give our life meaning and purpose. In Lifeskills classes, making connections is one of the top five most important skills. The internet was about connecting more people globally. Sites like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and others are popular because they connect people. Linkedin is a popular business connection website. But is there one connection that makes all others better? Is there one connection that is the most important? Jesus says there is.
